The California Smokers’ Helpline and its training and technical assistance arm, the Center for Tobacco Cessation, are pleased to provide this free Provider Toolkit on Tobacco Use and Rural Populations.

Overview

Rural popsThis webinar provides information on tobacco use in rural and urban communities. It features an overview of the Rural Tobacco Prevention toolkit that was developed by the NORC Walsh Center for Rural Health and is housed on the Rural Health Information Hub. Highlights from promising tobacco prevention and cessation programs in rural communities are featured. Considerations on how to frame effective health messages for rural communities are also discussed.

 Alana Knudson, PhD, serves as the Co-Director of NORC’s Walsh Center for Rural Health Analysis.  She has 20 years of experience implementing and directing public health programs, leading health research projects, and evaluating the impact of programs. She currently directs the Rural Health Tracking and Evaluation Project, a partnership with the University of Minnesota, to examine the impact of rural health community programs funded by the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy.
